Artists' Alley

Whether you are an artist or a connoisseur, come have a seat or buy some really nice art or commissions. If you’re just a budding artist who’s just starting out and want to show off your work or just looking to sell a few bits of commissioned artwork, the Artist Alley is the place for you. If you plan on selling pre-made items or pre-printed work, the Dealer’s Den is where you should be...

Please note, the Artist Alley Rules and Regulations have changed! Please read carefully!

Time and Location

  1. The Artist Alley is "open for business" during the posted operating hours of the Dealer's Den. This is due to the fact that all purchases must be handled at the Dealer's Den cash register.
  2. The Artist Alley is located in the breezeway space entering the lower floor ballroom spaces and will not extend out into the atrium or into the hallways directly in front of the ballrooms.
  3. Artists may register to use the Artist Alley at any time during the "open" hours. Once you have registered with the staff member in charge, your vendor status is valid through the span of the convention. Pre-registration is not permitted.

Regarding Table Space/Usage

  1. All artists who wish to utilize the Artist Alley may do so at no charge, but must be registered with the Artist Alley staff member in charge prior to occupying table space or making sales.
  2. Space is limited to only one half a table and a single chair, you may not spread past this limit, nor occupy a full table even if there is empty space surrounding you at any time.
  3. Table space is not guaranteed, it is on a first come first served basis. If you choose to leave your table for any extended period of time, you will risk forfeiting your space should another artist arrive.
  4. Two allotted 15 minute breaks in the morning and two in the afternoon for trips to the restroom or hospitality are permitted and you must notify the staff member in charge prior to leaving your table. We will not hold your table for you to leave for lunch or dinner. Any excessive absence will be taken as you don't care about your space and will be forfeited immediately. The staff member on duty has the right to refuse you space if you do not follow this guideline within reason.
  5. Requesting to have someone "camp" on a table for you in the morning when the Artist Alley is opening or prior to opening is strictly prohibited. You as the artist are responsible for claiming your own space when you arrive.
  6. Disruptive behavior and/or harassing other artists will not be tolerated and is at the discretion of the staff member on duty whether or not they may ask you to leave and forfeit your space for the remainder of the day, or remainder of the convention if deemed necessary.
  7. Electrical outlets are available for cell phone charging and/or laptop use ONLY - absolutely NO LAMINATORS may be used in the Artist Alley area. Extension cords are NOT PERMITTED AT ANY TIME! This is hotel policy and will be strictly enforced.

Regarding Sales Permissions

  1. No sales are permitted outside of posted Dealer's Den operating hours. Any artist found to be selling, or indicating sales during "closed" hours will be asked to leave and attendance badge pulled by security.
  2. Any signage indicating prices for artwork being sold can only be displayed during normal posted operating hours of the Dealer's Den.
  3. Only original artwork may be sold in the Artist Alley.
  4. All artwork must be created on site during the span of the convention or promised for delivery; no pre-printed artwork may be sold in the Artist Alley.
  5. The sale of tangible items is strictly prohibited in the Artist Alley. This includes and is not limited to buttons, stickers, items of clothing, hats, costume parts, jewelry, or any mass-produced item. Basically no items that were prepared before the convention can be sold in Artist Alley.
  6. Commissioned artwork can be sold in the Artist Alley that is promised for delivery after the end of the convention due to time limitations in completion. Delivery and promissory notation is at the sole discretion of the artist and the purchaser.
  7. RCFM holds no accountability or liability for the timely delivery of commissioned artwork, nor any refunds if the artist does not deliver aforementioned artwork as promised. It is up to the purchaser to contact the artist in regards to these issues.

Regarding Sales Tax Collection

  1. RCFM is required to collect Alabama State, Madison County, and Huntsville City sales taxes totaling 8% on each and every item sold at RCFM. Please do not adjust your pricing to "include" taxes since the tax is calculated at the register.
  2. If you do choose to adjust your pricing to make an even dollar amount, you must do so using a rate of 8%. To adjust the total sale after tax for $15, the amount would be $13.89. Divide your desired amount by 1.08 and make sure to round up accordingly.
  3. Artists will receive sales slips that they will issue to the individual wishing to purchase artwork, indicating the price of the item which must be taken to the Dealer's Den cash register immediately for payment.
  4. The sales slip will be marked paid by the Dealer's Den staff member and returned to the artist to collect the item. Releasing items to individuals without a validated/paid sales slip will not guarantee you will receive your payment for the items. It is up to the Artist to guarantee that all slips are validated and returned in order to receive payment for items sold. RCFM holds no liability for items not paid for.
