Items listed as "Not For Sale" will incur a $15.00 per item hanging fee to cover Art Show panel space and handling by the Art Show staff. Items that sell during the course of the show and auction will incur a 10% commission for RCFM.
Example:
You place a piece in the art show and the winning bid is $100.00. The buyer will pay $108.00 (the cost of the piece + 8.00% tax). RCFM will keep $8.00 for the taxes and
$10.00 for the commission fee. The artist will receive a payment of $90.00. If you have any questions regarding this procedure, please contact
Shirokuma.
Pegboard panels will be set up in a "horse stall" layout. Table space may be included with panels or reserved separately. A single table space will be about 48
inches wide by 18 inches deep. There may be other tables in the room, but this picture depicts the current room layout.

The Rocket City FurMeet (RCFM) is required to collect Alabama state, Madison County, and Huntsville city sales taxes totaling 8.00% on each and every item sold in the Barnyard Market, Artists’ Alley, and the Art Show and Auction. In an effort to simplify this for our vendors and artists, RCFM will provide and enforce a central cash register system in the Barnyard Market as well as in the other necessary areas. The Barnyard Market Commander, or an appointed associate, will staff these registers at all times. The central registers will be located in the Barnyard Market near the entrance, the Artists’ Alley near the door, and in the Art Auction area on Sunday afternoon for easy access to all convention attendees and Vendors. Purchases may be made at the closest available register.
All sales must go through the central register. At that time, sales tax will be added to the subtotaled purchase amount and the money for the sale and taxes will be collected from the purchaser. Sales tax collection will in no way affect the monies paid to the vendor. Any vendor or artist who is found to be selling merchandise "under the table" will be asked to leave the Barnyard Market or other area and will have their Meet badge removed by the Barnyard Market Commander.
RCFM will be accepting credit cards and cash this year. The artist will not be charged any fees associated with this service. All credit cards will be processed by RCFM or a similar business designee.
Again, this year, we will be using the "Library" at the hotel to host the Art Show. This is the same room that we have used in the past for the Art Show. It is located on the first floor across from the elevator. Reservations for Art Show space may be made by contacting Shirokuma. Artists may reserve up to one 4 foot x 4 foot panel, though please understand that, if you reserve a full panel and do not submit enough artwork to fill that panel, additional art will be hung with yours. If there is available space, then artists may request additional hanging space at the time of the meet.
RCFM is a family-friendly environment. However, there will be a specific area for the display of adult-oriented materials. Meet staff reserve the right to determine if a piece of work is of an adult-nature and will deem it necessary to be hung in the adult area. The Art Show Director will have the final say over these items.
An artist that is not attending the Meet may also arrange to have art hung in the Art Show with the same space limitations as noted above. Artists may also send extra artwork, in case of available space at the time of the Meet. Unsold artwork will be donated to the charity auction, unless otherwise specified and return postage is remitted for those specific pieces. RCFM will not be responsible for payment on return shipping. If you wish for your unsold artwork to be returned, please enclose a check for the shipping amount plus shipping insurance. You must request return shipping service prior to mailing your artwork. Checks must be made payable to RCFM. If the pieces sell, your return shipping monies will be refunded to you via RCFM company check within 21 days of the close of the Meet.
Please pay attention to this very important information. Failure to follow these requests may result in your artwork not being displayed and sold at RCFM! All artwork must be tagged with the artist's name and a numeric identifier. A sticky-note on the back will be sufficient. A more formal, standardized system will be in place at the Meet and the Art Show staff will take care of tagging and displaying sent in items. Please include an itemized list of all the pieces you are submitting. The list should include the item number, the title of the piece, a brief description, the minimum bid, and the reserve price. Any item without a minimum bid will be marked with a minimum bid of $1.00. If a piece has a reserve price, this will be clearly noted. Finally, a signed statement that says you have read and agree to all of the rules of the RCFM Art Show as stated in any email you receive or as posted on the RCFM website must be included. While every effort will be made to keep the web site up to date, any email you receive that contradicts the website will take precedence.
Art for the show should be mailed to:
RCFM Art Show
c/o Kevin Omel
4107 Newson Rd. #H5
Huntsville, AL 38505
Please ship your artwork so that it arrives in Huntsville at least 10 days prior to the start of the meet. This is to ensure time to prepare your artwork for hanging and to ensure that you receive the best service possible.
Thank you to everyone who is interested in the RCFM Sci-Five Art Show. We hope to have a banner year as we celebrate our 5th birthday!
